PUTRAJAYA:
The much anticipated Cabinet reshuffle is expected to take place today, with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim saying an announcement will be made later this morning.

“I will announce it around 10.30am to 11am, and at 2.30pm, I will be at Istana (Negara).

“But at 10.30am, I will explain and announce,” he told reporters at the finance ministry here today.

Anwar also hinted at an increase in Cabinet size but said it would still be smaller than that of the previous administration.

“There will be a slight increase, (but) smaller than (the) previous (one),” he said.

Speculation of a Cabinet reshuffle has been rife, and gained currency after Anwar himself said in October that it was a consideration.

Portfolios rumoured to be affected include that of the health ministry, led by Dr Zaliha Mustafa, in addition to the domestic trade and cost of living ministry which has been without a minister since the death of Salahuddin Ayub in July.
