
Kerry Chee however pulled off a major upset after she toppled Flovia Ng, the assistant community development people’s well-being minister, as the Wiranita chief, the party’s women’s wing.
Ng, who is also the Tulid assemblyman only managed 81 votes, compared to Chee’s 167, according to The Star.
Meanwhile, The Borneo Post reported that Jordan Jude Ellron was named as the party’s youth chief after winning the post unopposed. He succeeds Kong Soon Choi who had been ruled out of contesting for the post due to his age.
The party’s triennial general meeting chairman, Edward Linggu, said a total of 258 candidates competed for the central committee for the 2024-2027 period.
Linggu said some 50 candidates competed for the 18 posts in the Supreme Council, which witnessed a fierce competition for the three deputy presidencies.
Ellron Alfred Angin retained his post as the deputy president for the non-Muslim Bumiputera category after defeating his challenger Philip Among.
Robert Tawik @ Nordin also retained his post for the Muslim Bumiputera category, after defeating his challenger, Liawan assemblyman Annuar Ayub Aman by 15 votes.
However, acting deputy president for the Chinese category, Stephen Teo, lost to Kenny Chua by four votes.
