PETALING JAYA:
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Azam Baki clarified that its investigations into Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) are ongoing.

Azam’s clarification follows a report by the Public Accounts Committee in which an officer from the anti-graft agency was quoted as saying that HRD Corp had not committed any offence under the MACC Act 2009.

“I don’t know what aspect (of the investigations) this officer was referring to, but we have opened several files on HRD Corp.

“All investigations are ongoing,” he told the media after the conclusion of an international anti-corruption day 2024 event held here today.

Azam said all files are still with the assigned investigators and several are awaiting the decision of a deputy public prosecutor.

He said the investigations into matters involving HRD Corp have covered several aspects, including procurement and investment.

He also said he had asked his officers to inform PAC of the matter.

In July, MACC said it was investigating HRD Corp following issues outlined in the 2024 Auditor-General’s Report.

It said its investigations were focused on corruption, abuse of power and misappropriation of funds.

HRD Corp comes under the purview of the human resources ministry.
