PETALING JAYA:
Police have obtained a seven-day remand order for the employer of an intellectually disabled man who died after being found severely injured in Ladang Merdeka Cherbu, Bachok, Kelantan on Tuesday.

Kosmo reported that magistrate Fakhrul Razzi Abd Hamid issued the remand order for the 52-year-old tiling contractor from today until next Wednesday to facilitate a police investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Bachok police chief Ismail Jamaluddin said the 20-year-old victim, Zakir Fikry Zainal, worked as a tiler with the suspect, who was arrested yesterday.

Zakir, who was believed to have been assaulted, was found lying face down and covered in blood at Ladang Merdeka Cherbu at 7.30am on Tuesday.

Yusoff Shafei, a resident in the area, said he received a call from a friend about a man lying near a Honda C70 motorcycle. He found Zakir groaning in pain and immediately contacted emergency services.

Zakir was admitted to Universiti Sains Malaysia’s specialist hospital in Kubang Kerian and pronounced dead at around 12.45am yesterday.

Ismail said Zakir’s body was sent to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Bharu for a post-mortem.
