
Justice Nurulhuda Nur’aini Nor imposed the sentences on Radin Imran Radin Yassin, 64, and Radin Romyullah Radin Imran, 36, after both changed their pleas to guilty.
The judge also sentenced Radin Imran’s wife, Rosna Jantan, 61, to four years’ imprisonment after she too pleaded guilty, and freed her two daughters, Farhah Sobrina, 25, and Mariah, 21.
The two daughters had been charged with failing to provide information related to terrorism offences. However, the prosecution later withdrew the charges against them.
Radin Imran was sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment for each of three charges – indoctrinating his wife and children with Islamic State (IS) teachings, possessing homemade firearms to facilitate IS-related activities, and pledging allegiance to the group’s leader.
He was also sentenced to four years’ imprisonment for possessing materials linked to the militant group.
Radin Romyullah was sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment for supporting IS, and three years for possessing a hard disk containing IS-related materials.
Rosna was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment for failing to provide information relating to terrorism offences.
The court ordered all sentences to run concurrently from the date of their arrest on May 17, 2024.
Deputy public prosecutors Norinna Bahadun, Siti Maryam Jamilah Kamal and Mustaffa P Kunyalam appeared for the prosecution, while Faizal Rahman and Fatimah Zulaikha Ahmad Bashri represented the accused.
