PETALING JAYA:
Kelantan Bersatu will propose a new candidate for the post of deputy state assembly speaker following the expulsion of Kok Lanas assemblyman Farid Zawawi yesterday.

Kelantan Bersatu chief Kamarudin Nor said the party’s central leadership would make the final decision.

“We will only propose a replacement candidate to the Bersatu central leadership. They will decide who will be appointed as the new deputy speaker.

“This is because the quota was previously filled by a Bersatu representative,” he told FMT.

Apart from expelling Farid, Bersatu’s disciplinary board also suspended Bukit Bunga assemblyman Almidi Jaafar.

The party’s other Kelantan assemblymen are Bahari Nor (Gual Ipoh) and Shaari Mat Hussain (Paloh).

Other Kelantan Bersatu lawmakers who faced disciplinary action include Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (Machang), Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah) and Khlir Nor (Ketereh). Both Ikmal and Khlir have been suspended.
