CAAM confirms accident involving light aircraft in Langkawi

Both people on board have been confirmed safe.

PUTRAJAYA:
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has confirmed an accident involving a Diamond Aircraft model DA-40 bearing the registration number 9M-HMJ during a training flight in Langkawi today.

It said the aircraft conducted an emergency landing in the vicinity of Kuah.

“The aircraft departed Langkawi International Airport at 9.54am for a scheduled training flight, and the last communication with the air traffic control tower was recorded at 10.29am,” it said in a statement.

CAAM said there were two people on board, including the pilot, both of whom were reported safe.

An investigation into the accident will be carried out by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the transport ministry, in accordance with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.
