PETALING JAYA:
Four men were arrested in Kuala Lumpur early this morning after a police chase, during which officers also found tools believed to have been used for housebreaking in their car.

Petaling Jaya police chief Shamsudin Mamat said a housebreaking report was lodged at 2.23am today, after which police intercepted the suspects’ vehicle in Kota Damansara.

The suspects became aggressive during the inspection and sped off, prompting a chase to Jalan Air Jernih in Air Panas, Kuala Lumpur, where they were arrested.

Shamsudin said police also seized a parang, chisel, pliers, screwdriver and crowbar from the four suspects, aged in their 30s.

“Further checks found that the first suspect had 16 previous criminal cases and was wanted in connection with two cases, while the second had 29 previous cases and was also wanted in two cases.

“The third suspect had 15 previous cases and was wanted in connection with two cases, while the fourth had 16 previous cases but was not a wanted person,” Kosmo reported him as saying, adding that all four had been remanded until tomorrow.

The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstruction, Sections 28(i)(ii) and 29(1) of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for possession of housebreaking equipment and stolen property, and Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 for carrying offensive weapons.
