PARIS:
From flowers to car rental, the wedding dress, suit, restaurant and rings… the cost of getting married soon adds up.

But couples getting hitched in Italy’s Lazio region can now get a helping hand towards the cost of their big day.

A campaign promoting the Italian region has just been launched with lovebirds in mind, promising to cover the expenses relating to the wedding celebration.

If a total of €10 million has been set aside for the initiative, each couple can expect to be granted a maximum of €2,000.

To claim such a sum, the providers you choose must be based in Lazio.

And the good news is that this promotional campaign is not only reserved for Italians – couples from abroad can also take advantage of the region’s goodwill!

However, be careful not to push the boat out too much, as claims on some items are indeed limited.

For example, catering services can be covered to a maximum of €700, as can a honeymoon in the region of Julius Caesar.

In addition, newlyweds have the option of sending up to five payment invoices, to be submitted by Jan 31, 2023, via the official Lazio website.

In 2021, only three million visitors stayed in tourist accommodation in Rome – a dramatic situation for the sector, obviously caused by the pandemic and the various covid-related restrictions.

In the space of three years, visitor numbers to accommodation facilities have fallen by 85%. Rome was hosting more than 19 million tourists in 2019, reports the employers’ union Unindustria and the Rome Chamber of Commerce.
