In case you haven’t heard, car subscription service GoCar Subs has just restructured its entire pricing model.
Now, instead of giving each car an individual subscription price, they’ve streamlined all their available models into five categories: Cheap, Base, Plus, Expat and Luxe.
Here’s a breakdown of the categories:
Cheap (from approximately US$240 a month) – national brand A and B segment compacts
- 36 months: US$240 a month
- 24 months: US$265 a month
- 12 months: US$315 a month
- Monthly: US$362
- Weekly: US$96
Base (from approximately US$266 a month) – non-national brand B segment compacts
- 36 months: US$266 a month
- 24 months: US$315 a month
- 12 months: US$360 a month
- Monthly: US$410
- Weekly: US$120
Plus (from approximately US$315 a month) – non-national brand B and C segment mid-sized vehicles
- 36 months: US$315
- 24 months: US$360
- 12 months: US$410
- Monthly: US$460
- Weekly: US$145
Expat (from US$435 a month) – non-national brand C and D segment large vehicles
- 36 months: US$435
- 24 months: US$480
- 12 months: US$530
- Monthly: US$630
- Weekly: US$190
Luxe (from US$555 a month) – C and D segment premium vehicles
- 36 months: US$555
- 24 months: US$600
- 12 months: US$650
- Monthly: US$770
- Weekly: US$240
Each of these categories has fixed monthly prices, depending on the length of your subscription and the size of your monthly mileage limit. However, what’s really cool is that for the same price, you can decide which make and model suits you best.
On top of the new and improved pricing structure, GoCar Subs has also introduced a new ‘Swap’ feature.
One of the biggest appeals of a car subscription model over traditional hire purchase is that you’re not ‘locked in’ to just one vehicle for an extended period of time, and GoCarSubs’s ‘Swap’ takes this aspect to another level.
How ‘Swap’ works

Say you decided on a Honda City in the ‘Base’ category right after marriage. After a few months, you realise that your needs have changed.
Now, your parents have moved in, you have a child on the way and a domestic helper will need to be hired. With ‘Swap’, you’re allowed to request a Toyota Avanza, which has seven seats and is still in the ‘Base’ category, so your monthly commitment will not change.
You’re not even renewing your existing contract for another three years; you’re just swapping a five-seater sedan for a seven-seater compact MPV.
There’s just a small swap fee and you’re good to go, provided there’s an Avanza available in the pool of cars. You can always go up or down a category too.
Give GoCar Subs a test drive

Speaking of fees, here’s some good news. For a limited time only, you could try GoCar Subs with the promo code NEW2SUBS and absolutely no swap fee is required for your first year of subscription. Just remember to use the code before making your payment.
What’s more, is that you’ll also get a free mileage cap upgrade from the standard 1,650km a month to 2,500km a month by default.
This same promo code will also give you your first month of subscription absolutely free of charge and 50% off your second and third month.
Honestly, if you’re already in the market for a car and you’re worried about financial uncertainties, car subscriptions are the way to go.
There are no surprise repair bills, no forced returns to the dealership or mechanic for maintenance work and no depreciation to worry about.
Plus, with your monthly commitment fixed, all you have to factor in are your toll and petrol costs.
What say you?
