Iskandar, who has headed several government-linked companies (GLCs), previously served as the airport operator’s general manager from 1999 to 2003.
He was also group CEO of Pos Malaysia Bhd, a post he occupied for two years.
According to MAHB, Iskandar specialises in turnaround initiatives and was involved in the turnaround of several GLCs.
He also served on the boards of the technology sector’s public-listed companies.
Iskandar’s appointment came days after FMT reported there were plans to curb MAHB group CEO Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh’s authority in the company via the creation of a managing director’s post.
According to a source, the managing director will sit above the group CEO, effectively curbing his authority.
The source said a key stakeholder of the company, Malaysia’s main airport operator, was seeking Mohd Shukrie’s removal, despite the MAHB board’s acknowledgement that he has performed excellently throughout his 20 months in office.
Reports of his possible removal revived fears of a takeover of the highly profitable Subang airport by a private company.
