It is part of the eCommerce platform’s continuous efforts to advance the country’s digital economy to spur economic recovery.
This year’s two unique campaigns are “Shop Malaysia Online” and “Go-eCommerce” that will run concurrently from July 1– Dec 31.
Lazada’s “Shop Malaysia Online” campaign* will actively promote local businesses and products with exciting 50% discount vouchers, Crazy Flash Sales and Daily Free Shipping to encourage Malaysians to shop and support everything “local”.
The “Go-eCommerce campaign”* meanwhile will help support SMEs on the fence of going digital to flatten any barriers of entry further.
Besides the campaign incentives, new sellers will also leverage Lazada’s enhanced Pintar Niaga stimulus package with benefits worth RM1,500 as well as zero commission and start-up costs.
“The spread of the global pandemic has undoubtedly affected the economy. We saw local communities playing an active role to spur economic recovery through online consumption, with sales of close to RM130 million during the ‘Shop Malaysia Online’ campaign on Lazada last year,” said Darren Rajaratnam, Chief Operating Officer, Lazada Malaysia.
He said Lazada was pleased to collaborate with MOF and MDEC once again to provide exciting incentives for shoppers to continue supporting local businesses on the platform.
“We have also been focusing on helping local businesses in their digitalisation journey as they continue to navigate through the economic and social disruption caused by the pandemic,” Rajaratnam added.
Meanwhile, CEO of MDEC, Surina Shukri when speaking about the partnership with Lazada, said, “With strong support from the government and effective public-private collaborations, we aim to further catalyse the growth of eCommerce in Malaysia and of equal importance, sustain livelihoods and jobs in the process.”
Lazada was the first eCommerce platform to support local businesses during the first and second movement control orders, investing over RM50 million through its various stimulus packages and resulting in a more than 300% increase in new MSMEs onboarding Lazada.
“We have also future-proofed thousands of local businesses and enabled local MSMEs to adapt and pivot into recovery and growth mode,” added Rajaratnam.

They will also have full access to Lazada’s suite of tech and innovative digital tools, seller training and education via Lazada University and marketing campaigns to help them connect and expand their customer outreach and differentiate themselves on the eCommerce platform.
“We must turn the challenges brought about by the pandemic into opportunities for MSMEs to prepare for the future through digital transformation,” Magnus Ekbom, Chief Executive Officer of Lazada Malaysia said.
He explained that Lazada had the ability and responsibility to use digitalisation to help sustain MSMEs and make the economy of small businesses more dynamic and sustainable.
Since the rollout of its first stimulus package ‘Pakej Kedai Pintar’ in April last year, Lazada has helped more than 50,000 SMEs sell online. They have also supported the country’s economic recovery through programmes offering customised incentives and benefits.
This led to a 300% increase of new sellers onboarded, with a growth sales uplift that more than doubled by the end of 2020.
Earlier this year, Lazada launched “Pakej Kedai Pintar 2.0” and its “Kedai Pintar Niaga” programme, renewing its commitment to further help more than 70,000 SMEs on their digital journey.
