KUALA LUMPUR:
Sembrong MP Hishammuddin Hussein today denied pushing for a government without DAP and Amanah in the wake of a joint statement by Pakatan Harapan (PH) yesterday accusing him of promoting race-based politics in his writings.

Speaking to reporters at the Parliament lobby here, he said the accusation was ridiculous.

“Where have I said in my writings that we want to sideline DAP and Amanah?

“Where did I talk about racial politics? I’m talking about unity,” he said, adding that he took this as a sign that “not all is well in PH”.

“They have to put their house in order,” he said.

“Don’t try to blame others. We will not allow Barisan Nasional and Umno, or Sembrong, to become a scapegoat for their internal issues.”

In the statement released last night, PH said it “strongly” holds on to the agreed consensus by its component parties PKR, PPBM, Amanah and DAP.

The statement was signed by PH secretariat chief Saifuddin Abdullah, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution and his counterparts from PPBM and Amanah, Marzuki Yahya and Anuar Tahir; and DAP national organising secretary Loke Siew Fook.
