“Five more,” he said during ministerial question time at the Dewan Rakyat here today.
“These five I don’t have to say, but I will look at it seriously. I asked for the matter to be sped up so that it can be completed.”
He thanked MPs from Pakatan Harapan who had also declared their assets, saying “this side, there are several who are new and may need more time”.
Muhyiddin (PN-Pagoh) was responding to an additional question from Teo Nie Ching (PH-Kulai) who had asked for an update on the March 11 press conference at which the prime minister had said that Cabinet members would be given a month to declare their assets.
He said the timeframe was meant to be three months, not one.
“I apologise, it is three months,” he said, adding that this was enough time for the assets to be declared.
He also said the Perikatan Nasional government would continue efforts to curb corruption according to the National Anti-Corruption Plan 2019 to 2023.
He also spoke of a need to draft a bill on political donations, saying a policy paper was forwarded to Parliament under the previous administration.
He said the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was then asked to prepare a report on the matter.
As of today, though, he said the Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption Centre (GIACC) as the coordinator for laws on political donations had yet to receive the report.
Adding that this could be because PAC had just been set up, he said the committee would continue working on the paper which would be forwarded to GIACC once complete.
