Selangor BN information chief Isham Jalil believes that such support could then be used by the PPBM president to strengthen his position in the Dewan Rakyat.
“It would be a ‘no-win’ situation for these MPs because their support for the budget could be used by Muhyiddin as a sign that he had majority support in the Dewan Rakyat,” Isham said in a post on his Facebook page.
There has been intense speculation that MPs might vote against the budget, which would automatically lead to the resignation of Muhyiddin and his Cabinet.
Repeating his call for Muhyiddin to step down, Isham said it was also unreasonable to expect the next administration to implement a budget prepared by their predecessors.

“The current government and prime minister are shaky. They have no strong majority support (or a majority at all) and will collapse at any time.
“Therefore, it is very likely that the current Cabinet will not be around next year to implement the policies and expenditures they prepared in Budget 2021,” he said.
“Even if Muhyiddin succeeds in getting the approval for Budget 2021 in Parliament next month, the political turmoil will continue and the budget’s implementation will be stunted, or largely impossible to implement, due to his shaky position.”
Budget 2021 is set to be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Nov 6.
Istana Negara yesterday rejected the government’s call to declare a state of emergency over the Covid-19 crisis after having received such a proposal from Muhyiddin last Friday.
The PPBM president met with party chiefs and the Cabinet in Putrajaya this morning, with sources saying the meeting was to seek their support for next year’s budget.
