The menteri besar says this will give them an opportunity to make a living during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hawkers in Alor Setar, Sungai Petani, Kubang Pasu, Kulim and Langkawi can trade anywhere for RM10 a month.
ALOR SETAR:
The Kedah government today announced a “free business zone” for hawkers in five selected towns and city council areas where they can sell items anywhere they wished for a fee of RM10 a month starting on Sunday.

Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Nor did not say how long this would go on, but added that it would give those living within the Alor Setar, Sungai Petani, Kubang Pasu, Kulim and Langkawi city or town council limits an opportunity to make a living during these trying times.

“Those applying for temporary business permits at RM10 per month must follow hawker rules set by the respective councils and ensure cleanliness at all times,” he said in a statement.

The federal territories ministry also recently announced that residents in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan will be allowed to conduct their businesses anywhere within the three federal territories for the next five months.
