
The number of flood victims evacuated in three districts in Kelantan continued to rise to 400 people as at 8am today, compared to 323 people yesterday afternoon.
According to the Social Welfare Department’s website, 87 victims from 18 families are sheltered at three temporary evacuation centres (PPS) in the Kota Bharu district, namely 26 victims at Sekolah Kebangsaan Melor, SK Tiong (50) and the Islamic Outreach Abim in Kok Lanas (11).
Pasir Puteh recorded the highest number of evacuees, who are being accommodated at six flood relief centres, namely the Kamil Complex Hall which houses 67 victims, SK Changgai (17), SK Bukit Jawa 2 (37), SK Kamil 3 (44), SK Sungai Petai (23) and SK Wakaf Raja (31).
In Pasir Mas, 74 victims from 16 families are taking shelter at SK Gual Tok Deh and 20 victims at SK Kubang Kual. The PPS at Balai Raya Padang Kijang, Tanah Merah, which had previously sheltered 12 victims from three families, is now closed.
In Pahang, the number of flood victims has increased from 109 involving 34 families to 156 victims involving 52 families since yesterday afternoon, with eight PPS operating in Raub.
According to the JKM disaster information mobile app, the PPS at SK Ulu Sungai is giving shelter to the most number of evacuees, involving 42 people (11 families) from Kampung Sungai Ulu, followed by Kampung Kuala Semantan Mosque (38 people, 12 families), Kampung Pia multipurpose hall (26 people, 10 families) and Kuala Temau Mosque (16 people, seven families).
Apart from that, the Kampung Sengkela community hall shelters 12 flood victims from four families, SK Tersang (11 victims, three families), Kampung Batu Talam Umno hall (six victims, four families) and Kampung Chenua community hall (five victims, one family).
In Perak, the stagnant floodwaters in Kampung Matang Tengah, Beriah, in the Kerian district, is forcing the 27 victims to remain at the PPS at SK Changkat Lobak, Bagan Serai, as of 8am today.
In Terengganu, the flood situation has improved with the number of victims declining to 1,621 people from 416 families as of 8am today, compared to 2,130 people from 550 families at 4pm yesterday.
Head of the state Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, Lieutenant Colonel Che Adam A Rahman said the highest number of victims was in Marang with 527 evacuees from 138 families compared to 769 evacuees from 203 families yesterday afternoon.
In Dungun, the number of victims declined to 166 from 190; Besut (359 victims from 385); Setiu (268 victims from 294); Kemaman (43 victims from 116); Kuala Nerus (134 victims from 218) and Kuala Terengganu, from 139 to 124 victims previously.
