
In Pahang, the number seeking shelter at the 281 temporary relief centres in nine districts rose to 24,257 this morning.
According to the Social Welfare Department’s Info Bencana portal, Temerloh recorded the highest number of evacuees with 5,764, followed by Maran (5,275), Kuantan (3,461), Lipis (2,551), Jerantut (2,455), Raub (2,182), Rompin (986), Pekan (859) and Bera (724).
It also reported that the water level in Sungai Pahang in the Bera, Maran, Kuantan, Lipis, Jerantut and Temerloh districts had surpassed the danger point.
ANIH Bhd, the concessionaire of the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1), said Km113 and Km115 were still closed in both directions because of the floods.
It said the Kuantan-bound stretch at Km84 (Persimpangan Lanchang to Persimpangan Karak) is also closed to traffic.
In Kelantan, the number of evacuees in five flood-affected districts increased to 4,829 compared with 2,142 yesterday evening. They are seeking shelter at 64 relief centres.
Jeli still has the highest number of victims with 1,688, followed by Kuala Krai (1,455), Gua Musang (775), Pasir Mas (469) and Tanah Merah (442).
Five rivers in the state – Sungai Lebir and Sungai Kelantan in Kuala Krai; Sungai Kelantan in Kusial, Tanah Merah; Sungai Golok in Jenob and in Rantau Panjang; and Sungai Galas in Dabong – recorded readings which exceeded the danger level.
In Terengganu, the number of flood victims surged to 5,243 at 8am, from 910 at 3pm yesterday. They are taking shelter at 39 relief centres.
The state disaster management committee said Kemaman was the worst-hit district with 4,074 evacuees, followed by Dungun (849), Hulu Terengganu (219), Besut (94) and Setiu (seven).
