Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 3,414 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 252,623.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 285,761.
There are 32,076 active cases, with 199 patients being treated in intensive care and 91 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the six deaths take the number of fatalities to 1,062
The new cases today involved 2,189 local infections and three imported cases. Local cases comprised 1,337 Malaysians and 852 foreigners.
Selangor recorded the highest number of new infections with 910 cases. Of the sum, 742 were detected from clusters and screening of close contacts.
This was followed by Kuala Lumpur (303), Sarawak (221), Johor (211), Perak (148), Penang (135), Sabah (110), Negeri Sembilan (64), Kelantan (28), Kedah (26), Melaka (14), Putrajaya (seven), Pahang (seven), Perlis (four), Terengganu (four).
No cases were recorded in Labuan.
A total of 109 cases were linked to prison, lock-up and detention centre clusters, with 39 coming from the Tembok Tapah cluster.
This was followed by the Tembok Bendera cluster (26), the Jalan Harapan prison cluster (25), Tembok Pengkalan Chepa cluster (nine), Tembok Bukit Besi (six), Tembok Taiping cluster (two), Tembok Sungai Udang cluster (one) and the DTI Sepang 2 cluster (one).
The six who died comprised five Malaysians and one foreigner, with the youngest being a 17-year-old in Johor and the oldest an 84-year-old man from Selangor.
The five Malaysians suffered from other illnesses.
