Batu Pahat district police chief Ismail Dollah said the driver, identified as Dr Noor Zairul Muhamad, who worked at a private hospital here, was confirmed dead at the scene around 9am.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that he was driving alone from Batu Pahat towards Sri Gading and was believed to have lost control of the vehicle before hitting a lamp post on the road divider.
‘It then skidded into the opposite lane and collided with a Toyota Vellfire MPV driven by a 31-year-old man,” he said in a statement.
Ismail said the body was taken to the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital, Batu Pahat, for an autopsy and the case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“Meanwhile, the driver of the MPV suffered head injuries and was taken to the Pantai Hospital for treatment,” he said.
