MACC raids 3 Mara-linked buildings in probe against officials

Five senior officials are alleged to have been involved in backdated payments for a 'cross-fertilisation' programme.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has carried out a raid on offices at the Mara headquarters here in its investigation into five senior officials.

Several MACC officers were seen entering Menara Mara in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman here at about 10.30am today.

They were believed to be looking for documents and taking statements from some officers there.

FMT learnt that MACC officers had also entered two other buildings linked to Mara – Mara Corporation in the same area as well as Mara Corporation’s corporate secretarial company, Prudenz CorporateHouse Sdn Bhd.

This followed alleged wrongdoing involving “backdated” payments by the five Mara officials in a “cross-fertilisation” programme.

Mara confirmed that MACC officers had visited its headquarters and Mara Corp to in investigations into the allegations of wrongdoing by five officials.

“Mara management and Mara Corp are ready to extend our cooperation,” Mara chairman Azizah Mohd Dun said.

She reiterated that Mara was committed to upholding the organisation’s integrity and would not compromise on any abuse of power.
