The 34-year-old Malaysian also has six outstanding summonses, Johor Bahru Selatan district police chief Raub Selamat said.
However, a urine test carried out on the driver, who has been remanded for three days, turned out negative.
The lorry had crashed into nine cars, a van and a bus. Six of the vehicles were foreign-registered.
Police said they arrested the suspect at 1.15pm yesterday following the crash at 9.25am.
The driver was taken to the magistrates’ court here at 10am today in handcuffs, where the remand order was issued by assistant registrar Melody Woon.
An investigation showed that the incident was caused by technical problems. No injuries were reported.
