The event, which started at 2.30pm, saw around 300 of the former prime minister’s supporters gathered in front of Gate 3 of the palace.
Brickfields police chief Amihizam Abdul Shukor said the organisers did not notify the police about the gathering, adding that they would be summoned for questioning.
“We advise the public to be careful with any action or speeches that can disrupt harmony in the country,” he said in a statement.
He also reminded them not to hold mass gatherings without approval from the authorities.
The handing over of the memorandum came a day after the Federal Court affirmed Najib’s conviction and sentence in the SRC International case.
The memorandum was submitted by an NGO called Pertubuhan Jalinan Perpaduan Negara, which also urged Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to seek a royal pardon for Najib.
The group also called on Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to “order” the prime minister to act immediately on the matter.
Najib, the Pekan MP, began serving his 12-year prison term on Tuesday. He also has to pay a fine of RM210 million.
