Lorry driver dies after crashing into road sign in Penang

Fire and rescue department personnel were mobilised to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 3.20pm.

PETALING JAYA:
A lorry driver was killed after his vehicle crashed into a road sign along Persiaran Paya Terubong 2 in Bayan Lepas, Penang, this afternoon.

The Penang fire and rescue department said an emergency call was received at 3.20pm, with a rescue unit promptly mobilised to the scene.

Upon arriving at the scene, the victim was found trapped in the vehicle after the road sign fell on top of the lorry.

Firefighters removed the victim from the vehicle at around 3.46pm. However, the 48-year-old man was pronounced dead by the medical officer on duty.

The victim’s body has been handed over to the police for further action.

The rescue operation was completed at 4.37pm.
