PH, BN to give special focus on wresting Kedah from PN

Kedah Umno chief Mahdzir Khalid says the two unity government partners will place greater priority on the state polls instead of those elsewhere.

Mahdzir Khalid says a committee has been formed to ensure close cooperation between BN and PH in Kedah.
PETALING JAYA:
The parties in the unity government will be placing greater focus on its campaign in the Kedah elections to wrest the state from Perikatan Nasional, says Kedah Umno chief Mahdzir Khalid.

Mahdzir said the parties that form the current federal administration would be placing greater priority on Kedah compared to the polls in Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Terengganu and Kelantan.

According to Astro Awani, the former Padang Terap MP said a state committee had been formed to help ensure close cooperation between Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan in Kedah.

He said the coalitions will seek to resolve the water woes in the state while focusing on the well-being of youngsters should they form the next state government.

“The state government has the responsibility of tackling these issues that have yet to be resolved in Kedah. So, this is the new deal that the unity government is offering Kedahans for the state election,” he said.

Separately, Kedah PH chief Mahfuz Omar denied claims that he would be appointed menteri besar if PH and BN won the state.

Mahfuz, who is also an Amanah vice-president, said he “definitely” would not be the coalitions’ Kedah menteri besar candidate.

Yesterday, PN announced that current Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor would be the coalition’s “poster boy” and menteri besar candidate for the upcoming state election.
