GEORGE TOWN:
Police have arrested five students after a junior schoolmate alleged he was assaulted in a toilet at a boarding school in Balik Pulau last week.

The 15-year-old boy, a third former, said he was set upon by his two seniors at about 11pm on Friday.

Southwest police chief Kamarul Rizal Jenal said the boy claimed that he was beaten up by two fifth formers for missing subuh prayers, while three others watched.

He said the victim suffered from bruises and had been sent for a physical examination.

Kamarul said the five alleged to have beaten up the victim had been released on police bail. The case is being investigated for rioting, an offence which carries a maximum penalty of two years’ jail, a fine or both on conviction.
