2 relief centres opened in Selangor after floods

Some 75 people from 26 families were evacuated overnight.

Floods forced 75 people from 26 families to evacuate to two relief centres in Kuala Selangor overnight.

The Selangor disaster management committee secretariat said the relief centres were opened at SK Jaya Setia and the Parit Mahang community hall.

The publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my portal reported that the level of Sungai Bernam in Kampung Sungai Selisek, Hulu Selangor, had exceeded the danger point but was on a downward trend as of 9am today.

Meanwhile, the Larut, Matang and Selama district in Perak was also hit by floods, forcing 20 people from 10 families to be evacuated following heavy rain yesterday.

The residents of Kampung Matang Gelugor were relocated to the relief centre at Masjid Al-Wusta, Batu 8.

The meteorological department has forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms in Hulu Perak today.
