PETALING JAYA:
Police have released a photofit of the suspect believed to have splashed acid on national footballer Faisal Halim earlier this month.

In a statement, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said the suspect is believed to be in his 30s and 165cm tall.

He also has tanned skin and is medium built.

“Anyone who knows a person who resembles the photofit or has any information should contact the investigating officer, M Jagachnadran, at 012-684 8166 or 03-2266 6071, or the nearest police station,” Razarudin said.

Razarudin had previously said a photofit would be produced with the help of witnesses and CCTV footage.

Faisal is recovering from burns he received after being splashed with acid at a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya on May 5.

He suffered fourth-degree burns around the neck, shoulder, arm and chest.

Faisal, who is known as “Mickey”, is a winger with the national team and Selangor FC. His goal against South Korea at the Asian Cup in January was voted the Goal of the Tournament.
