PETALING JAYA:
A female Chinese national was arrested by police yesterday afternoon to assist in investigations into the murder of her 49-year-old compatriot, who was stabbed in a restaurant in Cheras last week.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa said the 34-year-old suspect was arrested at KL Sentral at 4.30pm yesterday.

“The motive of the murder has yet to be determined. We will seek a remand order for the suspect today,” he said in a statement.

Rusdi said police would also seek to extend the remand order on seven other suspects who were previously arrested. Their remand ends tomorrow.

The victim, who worked as a cashier at the restaurant at Sunway Velocity, was stabbed about five times on Nov 29. She died in an ambulance enroute to the hospital.

The seven people previously nabbed were colleagues of the victim at the restaurant.

Rusdi said a post mortem found that the victim’s cause of death was injuries to her left lung and bleeding.

“Further investigations are ongoing,” he added.
