PETALING JAYA:
Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun has called for an emergency meeting at his official residence this afternoon, following Umno’s decision to withdraw support for him.

Negeri Sembilan DAP, which holds 11 state seats, is scheduled to hold a separate meeting at its party office at 2pm.

The two meetings were confirmed to FMT by DAP’s Nilai assemblyman Arul Kumar Jambunathan.

The political crisis was triggered earlier today when Negeri Sembilan Umno declared that all 14 of its assemblymen were withdrawing support for Aminuddin, who is from PKR.

The state chapter’s chairman, Jalaluddin Alias, said the decision to retract support for Aminuddin was linked to the ongoing crisis involving four chieftains seeking to remove the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, from his position.

He said an official letter would be submitted to the state assembly speaker and secretary.

Meanwhile, Perikatan Nasional’s five assemblymen have said they are prepared to work with the 14 Umno assemblymen to form a new state government and ensure stability.

A total of 19 seats are required to form the state government. Without Umno, PH only holds 17.
