PETALING JAYA:
Negeri Sembilan Perikatan Nasional (PN) says it is prepared to work with Barisan Nasional’s (BN) 14 assemblymen, who withdrew support for the menteri besar earlier today, to form a new government and ensure stability.

Opposition leader Hanifah Abu Baker said PN’s agenda had always prioritised the state and its people.

“Our five assemblymen are prepared to work with the BN assemblymen to ensure stability and continuity in the state government, in order for Negeri Sembilan to be developed and to take care of the people’s well-being,” he said at a press conference in Seremban.

Negeri Sembilan Umno retracted its support for menteri besar Aminuddin Harun this morning, declaring that all 14 of its assemblymen had lost confidence in him.

The state chapter’s chairman, Jalaluddin Alias, said the decision to retract support for Aminuddin was linked to the ongoing crisis involving four chieftains seeking to remove the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, from his position.

Jalaluddin also said that Aminuddin should have stepped in to resolve the crisis, and that the issue could impact the stability of the state’s administration.

Hanifah agreed that Aminuddin had failed to manage the crisis.

“We regret that the matter was allowed to continue to the point where it impacted the state’s administration, resulting in the postponement of the state legislative assembly,” he said.
