Fahmi said the other unity state governments – Penang, Perak, Selangor, Pahang, Melaka, and Sabah – remained unaffected by the turmoil in Negeri Sembilan, with Pakatan Harapan and BN working together without issues.
“The unity government at the federal level and in all states, including Negeri Sembilan, is able to function as usual,” he said at a post-Cabinet meeting press conference.
Fahmi, the PH communications director, added that deputy prime minister and BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi would meet the 14 BN assemblymen soon to discuss the political crisis in the state.
“Zahid informed the Cabinet today that he would meet the assemblymen involved soon.”
Negeri Sembilan BN’s 14 assemblymen withdrew support for Aminuddin on Monday, citing a loss of confidence. It later claimed to have the numbers to form a new state government, with the backing of Perikatan Nasional’s five assemblymen.
Negeri Sembilan BN said the decision was linked to the ongoing crisis involving four chieftains seeking to remove the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan from his position.
However, Aminuddin told a press conference on Monday that the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan wanted him to remain as menteri besar until the question of his majority support is determined.
Yesterday, Fahmi slammed Negeri Sembilan BN and its assemblymen for their actions, describing the move as an act of betrayal aimed at taking over the state government.
