PETALING JAYA:
Derga assemblyman Amri Wahab has become the latest Bersatu leader to face disciplinary action – he was suspended from the party today for two election terms.

Amri, who is also the Pokok Sena division chief, was suspended for breaching the party’s constitution as well as its code of ethics and conduct, Sinar Harian reported.

The suspension takes effect immediately and he is stripped of all party positions during the period.

He is also prevented from issuing any statements on behalf of the party until the suspension ends.

Amri has been given 14 days to appeal to the party’s appeals board.

Bersatu yesterday sacked Kelantan deputy speaker Farid Zawawi and Bersatu Youth exco member Wan Meor Safwat Naqiuddin Shamsuddin. It also suspended Mersing MP Islahuddin Abas and Bukit Bunga assemblyman Almidi Jaafar for two terms.

Disciplinary board chairman Radzi Manan said those who had been sacked or suspended had contravened the party’s constitution and its code of conduct and ethics. They may file an appeal within two weeks.

Deputy youth chief Faiz Rahmad, Kedah deputy speaker and Sungai Tiang assemblyman Abdul Razak Khamis, and Suka Menanti assemblyman Dzowahir Ab Ghani were sacked last week.

Seven others were also suspended – Perak assemblymen Ahmad Man (Kuala Sepetang) and Syed Lukman Hakim Syed Zin (Chenderoh), Perak MP Nordin Ahmad Ismail (Lumut), Pahang MP Khalib Abdullah (Rompin), Kelantan MPs Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah) and Khlir Nor (Ketereh), and Terengganu MP Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu).
