Cops to investigate Annuar Musa over alleged SOP breach

KL police chief says an investigation paper has been opened into the case.

Federal territories minister Annuar Musa had said he only sat at the table for a short while.
PETALING JAYA:
Police will be calling in federal territories minister Annuar Musa to provide details about an event on Friday in which he was photographed dining at a table with six others.

“An investigation paper has been opened,” Kuala Lumpur police chief Saiful Azly Kamaruddin told FMT.

He said a report had been lodged on the incident in Cheras.

“Yes … of course,” he said when asked whether Annuar would be called in to provide a statement.

Under current movement control order (MCO) regulations, only two people are allowed to a table when eating out.

In a photo widely shared on social media, Annuar was seen dining at the same table with six others during a visit to a community centre project in Cheras on Friday.

In a Facebook post, the former Barisan Nasional secretary-general said he only “sat down for a moment” and moved away after realising the organisers had not followed SOPs.

“It is not that I was unwilling or did not appreciate the hosts, but they must follow SOPs.

“I apologise and hope no one was offended,” he said.

The organiser has since apologised for the incident.

Annuar also courted controversy when he was photographed jogging with two others last month.

While sporting and recreational activities are restricted during the MCO, jogging and cycling are allowed — jogging is allowed in pairs and cycling individually.

In defending himself, Annuar said “it was a coincidence” that he had bumped into the pair.
