
The former SEA Games champion said since her colectomy surgery in 2019, she has been “taking more and more meds every day”.
“I have lots of regrets, but I believe that life will still go on,” Goh, 21, said in a seven-minute 27-second video uploaded on Youtube.
She went on to thank several quarters, including the Badminton Association of Malaysia and its president Mohamad Norza Zakaria, as well as her fellow trainers and friends.
“I am sorry for making it this far only to retire now,” said Jin Wei, who had been among Malaysia’s hopes for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
Jin Wei, who won the gold in the 2017 SEA Games, has been battling a stomach ailment since January.
Jin Wei, who hails from Bukit Mertajam, Penang, has been a badminton player since the age of six and won her first Under-12 Grand Prix Finals and the Malaysian School Sports Council championships when she was 11.
She was drafted into the national squad when she was 14.
She was, prior to her retirement, ranked 103rd in the world in women’s singles. Her best ever ranking was 24th.
