More people evacuated from floods in Kelantan and Perak

There are 4,840 people at relief centres in Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah, Kelantan, and 87 in Teluk Intan, Perak.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The number of flood victims in Kelantan and Perak continued to rise tonight, while the situation in Terengganu and Selangor is reportedly improving.

The number of flood victims in Kelantan increased to 4,840 people from 1,528 families in the Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah districts.

The number of flood victims in Perak also increased slightly to 87 people from 26 families, housed at the Padang Tembak flood relief centre in Teluk Intan.

The Perak drainage and irrigation department reported that the water level of Sungai Bidor at Changkat Jong has reached the danger level of 3.57 metres.

In Terengganu, the second wave of floods that hit the state is gradually improving, with the number of victims dropping sharply to 824 victims from 184 families, compared to 2,693 victims from 654 families this morning.

The evacuees are in Setiu, Dungun, and Marang districts, while Kemaman, Hulu Terengganu, and Besut districts have fully recovered from the floods.

In Selangor, the number of flood evacuees had dropped from 69 people from 23 families to 39 people from 11 families in Padang Jawa, Klang, and in Kuala Selangor.
