PETALING JAYA:
National men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani have qualified for the semi-finals of the RM11 million BWF World Tour Finals in Hangzhou, China, paving the way for a possible first Malaysian entry in the Tour doubles final.

They could meet compatriots Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in the semi-final, depending on how Aaron-Wooi Yik fare in their Group B tie later tonight.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin had to labour for 40 minutes before defeating Taiwan’s double Olympic gold medallists Lee Yang-Wang Chih Lin 24-22, 21-12 in their final Group A tie to finish as the runners-up in the group.

Later tonight, Aaron-Wooi Yik will meet Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi in their final Group B tie. Victory will put them at the top of the group and pit them against Sze Fei-Izzuddin in an all Malaysian semi-final.

The tie could result in Malaysians playing the final for the first time since the tournament began in 2018.
