Senior citizen denies ‘intentionally wounding feelings of Muslims’ charge

SELAYANG:
A senior citizen pleaded not guilty at the magistrates’ court here to a charge of intentionally wounding the religious feelings of Muslims in the country.

Lim Kim Teng, 70, was slapped with one charge under Section 298 of the Penal Code for uttering the remarks on June 4 last year at Taman Sri Gombak.

FMT understands that the remarks were made in a video published on TikTok.

If found guilty, Lim faces a maximum one year jail sentence or fine, or both.

Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Iqbal Azman asked the court to impose a RM6,000 bail with one surety on Lim.

Magistrate Chai Guan Hock set bail at RM6,000 after Lim’s lawyer, Haijan Omar, agreed to the sum proposed.

The court also set March 21 as next case management.
