<p>GEORGE TOWN: The familiar aromas of freshly fried ham chim pengs and crispy sesame balls flood Cintra Street in the evenings.</p>
<p>These intoxicating aromas emanate from the Yee family’s roadside cart stacked with these traditional Chinese pastries, located in the same spot it has occupied since the 1950s.</p>
<p>Just a corner away from their roadside stall, their tiny kitchen has resided underneath People’s Court for three generations and it’s the sole stall in Penang that still carries out the delicate art of making pak thong kous from scratch.</p>
<p>Although these steamed rice cakes may seem simple with its white exterior and mildly sweet taste, within these bouncy cakes lie an intricate honeycomb texture that is difficult to recreate.</p>
